In 2022, I graduated as a podiatrist from the Arteveldehogeschool in Ghent.

I have lived in Dilbeek all my life, so I immediately started looking for a place to work in this area in a multidisciplinary setting. This is how I ended up at Vidafeels in 2023.

As a child, I did several hobbies such as judo, tennis, breakdance and football. Now my outlet is mainly running, walking and cycling. My fondness for podiatry also stemmed from this. Sooner or later, you will have to deal with an acute or chronic injury you pick up during sports. This can hinder you not only during sports but also during everyday activities. That is why I think it is very important that every athlete is well supported and that together we look for a suitable treatment so that he or she can resume sport injury-free.

As a podiatrist, I receive patients of every age group and category (athletes, diabetics, children…) and perform skin and nail treatment of the feet on the one hand. This usually involves nails that grow in and hurt or starfish eyes that need to be removed or also just general foot care involving nail trimming and callus removal. On the other hand, I also carry out biomechanical examinations. During an anamnesis, inspection, clinical examination and gait analysis, I then look at what causes biomechanical complaints and discuss with the patient what is the best possible treatment for him or her. Starting sole therapy (podiatric soles) or possible referral to another discipline.

The following quote is a very important one for me:

‘It starts with your feet’

Going and standing is determined by the health of our feet and we don’t think about this too often. A lot of complaints can originate from the feet or more generally from the lower limb. Therefore, I find it important to look for the cause of the problem there and, in consultation with the patient, to start the most appropriate therapy.
